Feelings

It’s challenging to be the girl who has “too many sentiments” in a society where rationality rules. It’s a continual fight to keep your sentiments to yourself or to scare others away. We all do it, some more than others, but we all hide our hearts to keep them from breaking.

“I love you,” we say, but “that’s fantastic.” We keep our calm and remain distant.

“I miss you,” we say, but then text, “I’ll let you know when I’m free.” We act as if we don’t notice.

We sense “I need you,” yet respond with “I’m OK.” We put on a brave front.

We believe we’re being cool when we spread the lie that profound sentiments are bad. We’re contributing to the problem. Instead of establishing a new path toward connection, we’re perpetuating the cycle of loneliness. We buy into the concept of “cool,” yet it just makes us feel chilly.

Those who are unashamedly themselves inspire me. Those who freely give their hearts in every connection will finally have nothing left. I wish I could be like them.

I want you to know that your vulnerability is a gift if you’re the girl who feels “too much.” It does not weaken you. Allow them to persuade you that you’re too gentle. It’s quite OK to think with your emotions. Even admirable. It’s not a flaw to love deeply and be aware of your feelings. One of the most beautiful aspects of love is that you make your own rules—you can’t go wrong as long as you’re being honest with yourself.

You only need to find someone who admires rather than fears your powerful emotional potential. And in order to locate them, you must continue to put yourself out there, displaying the hidden gems that are raw emotions.
